Credit cards:
Credit cards are usually accepted in larger shops, hotels, restaurants
and inns. Best known are cards of VISA and MASTER CARD. It's better to ask for
the acceptance.

Entry regulations:
Austria is member of the EU and also has signed the agreement of Schengen.
So there is no control at the borders between Austria and other countries of
the European Union. But nevertheless its an obligatory to take along a passport
with validity. For tourists from countries outside the EU there are other
regulations.
